I want to get my first Vespa scooter, any advice on maintenance?

Do I fill up gas in a regualar gas station? Does it need tire rotation and oil changes? What about fluids, battery and timing belts? Do I take it to a car mehcanic or to a scooter shop? Thanks, oh any advice on which scooter is good. I want just a street legal one but maybe I will consider one that's also freeway legal.

Just go to a regular fas station. Most people I know use mid range gas, but for a few more cents, you might as well go for the good stuff!

Vespa recommendeds (if you don't you might void the warranty) a first service at 600 miles, an oil check / top up every 2000 miles, full service every 4000 miles & a new belt at 8000 miles. I recommend getting it done at a scooter shop. Tires will last anywhere from 3000-6000 miles, depending on your type of driving. Scooters might be cheaper, but per mile, a car is much cheaper to maintain.

As for which brands are good.. I would stick with Honda, Yamaha, Vespa, Piaggio, Aprilia Suzuki, and Kymco.

To be freeway legal (and safe) you really should go with a 250cc.

The best Vespa to buy is the 250cc version. Has enough power to go down the high way.

I would choose the Kawasaki Ninja 250R, it's faster and rides better than a scooter.

You always take a bike into a bike shop, change the oil based on the manual. No tire rotation is done.

Forget the Vespa . Way to pricey for what you get!
