Gas prices are so high, especially driving an SUV, so I'm thinking about getting a scooter. I've done a lot of research and think my purchase will be a "Stella" scooter. If anyone rides a Stella right now, what's your thoughts on it or does anyone have any other suggestions or comments about riding a scooter? both of the above answers are ridiculous.
The stella is no longer being manufactured due to the crisis at lml in india. If you want a new one you'd better buy it quick.
The stella is a high quality metal scooter that is fast. 60mph easily...thats good for more than 2 to 3 blocks in my opinion, people have toured the us on this bike. It is a manual scooter with a clutch, so you would have to be comfortable with shifting.
If youre looking for something automatic stellas company called genuine sellls the buddy scooter which is getting rave reviews and is 500$ cheaper.
If you decide to get a scooter, spend some time offroad learning how to break, lean and to get comfortable. It wouldnt hurt to take a motorcycle safety class if youre uneasy. I don't ride a scooter but here is a suggestion, if you buy a scooter are you really going to use it? You have to remember a scooter is only good for short distances (2-3 blocks) nothing more. I use to drive a SUV as well so what I did to cut my trip to pumps, I traded it in and got a smaller car that didn't make me look stupid because I'm a tall person. You just can't jump on a scooter and ride away, one should spend the little money to take a riders course, and do your research on the scooter itself,if its stable ride, how many miles to a gallon, things that mostly pertain to your set of mind and money. |
