Why do we not tout motorcycles and scooters more? |
I read the article today on the Yahoo homepage about EV, but no one seems to talk about 2 wheelers as a viable alternative. I have about a 60 mile a day commute and with spiking and uncertain gas prices I decided to buy a scooter this year. It gets 65-70 MPG, goes up to 80 MPH or so and was a fraction of the price of the cheapest EV. Heck, it's a fraction of any hybrid and still a few thousand cheaper than a new Rio or Aveo. Why aren't scooters and motorcycles talked up more as alternatives? Why isn't there more information available as to current trends because I'm sure I'm not the only one with the idea and it does seem like there are a lot more two wheelers on the road? I have a scooter and I love it. I personally think everyone who is physically able to ride a scooter should get one. Common sense. If you crash, usually you're dead or seriously injured. I speak from experience. Accident costs are higher. Chances of survival even if you are in the right is low. This is known as being "dead right". Proper safety gear is essential . . this video shows why. What do you do when it rains? Do you still attend the board meeting with dead bugs on your suit? You don't fair as well in a minor fender-bender. You can't hide YOUR hemmoroid cushion on the back of a Yamaha ! If everyone rode scooters, like in some countries, the danger would be greatly reduced. |
