How much?? |
I drive a large van because I need it for work, but I hate driving it when I need to make a short trip to the store and what not. So I want to get a scooter to save on gas money. But at the same time I don't want to spend much. I found one that is only being sold for $600 but I think I can talk him down to a much lower price. It's a 1986 Yamaha Riva 80cc, w/ 945mi on it. Only thing wrong with it is the battery, that's $60 to replace. I went to kbb.com to find a price but they didnt have this model. I looked up the 125cc model and it said it's worth $750. That's perfect condition with a decent amount of miles. So the fact that this is an 80cc, and needs a new battery should really knock the price down. I was kind of thinking around $500. What do you think? The battery he has works, but it will be needing a new one. So I will still be able to take it for a test ride. I'm thinking you should make an offer lower than the $500 and work up from there, without ever going over the limit you have set. You never know what they will take unless you ask! You may also use the information that you have gleaned in your bargaining procedure! It could work out for you, but I have sold 3 Honda Sprees, that I got running and fixed up a little. It really doesn't matter what we think, what matters is what the seller is willing to take, and only he can say. Tell him "$500, not a penny more" and he will either say yes, or no. I wouldn't even make an offer until HE buys a battery for it and you take it for a spin. |
