Recommended $200 or less city bike? (Especially a folding or smaller wheel one.)? dahon makes the only new used folding bike thats worth anything, and i believe they have a model thats around 300 dollars. the previous post was correct in stating that a decent bike starts around there, as real bike shops have poor margins and good mechanics cost good money to hang on to. used, old folding raleighs are out there, but hard to find, and generally used commuters are in rough shape, as they have years of road grime and abuse inherient... Source(s): source? i've worked as a professional mechanic for a decade... Most quality folding bikes start around 300... Take a look at KHS. Go to your local bike shop and inquire. Good luck and ride safe! I personally would stay away from folding bikes. When my friends buy new bikes, they sell their older models via ads in newspapers or yard sales. These bikes are usually very good bikes lovingly taken care of & very mechanically sound. I don't think you will be able to find a NEW city bike for $200 or under. If you know a little about bike mechanics you might be able to find a good used one but it still may take a while. Most used bikes under $200 are next to junk. |
