Why do my hands fall asleep when I ride my motorcycle?

When I'm gripping somthing for a long period of time, such as, motorcycle or dirt bike handle bars, my hands fall asleep, particularlly my right hand. I'm not pinching any blood vessels; I just need to mantain a firm grip. My dad has this happen him, and he just blamed it on old age because it started happening only a few years ago, but I am too young for that (I'm 22). So, my question is two-fold:

What is causing this? and

Are there any stretches or exorcises I can do to prevent this from happening any more?

It sounds similar to Raynaud's Syndrome, a disease that some people get that work in occupations that use vibrating tools. Their hands/fingers fall asleep and tingle when they use certain tools due to their vibrations.
People in these jobs are often required/recommended to wear gloves that absorb vibrations to prevent this from happening.
Perhaps there are some gloves you can try...or maybe you could get thicker grips (like the foamy ones) on your handles...maybe that would absorb some vibration too.
Check with a good orthopedic doctor, you might have a serious problem, or it might be that you are gripping the handlebars too tightly.
i was goin to say reynauds aswell, i get that when i run for a long time , not life threatening just a poor curculation to the digits...
