Cardio exercise help?

What good does riding a bike do for your legs?

i eat fine, im just not doing the right exercises.
i don't want bulky legs, or real toned muscle in my arms.

what kind of cardio exercises should i do? and how long?

gimme a schedule :O

First thing, I don't think biking gives rise to bulky legs unless you train like a professional biker/cyclist.

In fact, biking strengthens your legs and the increased leg strength improves your mobilities and you avoid unnecessary falls.

If you don't want bulky legs or arms, then walking, water aerobic exercise, aerobic dance exercise or step aerobic are good cardio exercises that promote cardio-respiratory fitness (i.e. heart and lung health).

Do these exercises 3-4 times per week, for at least 30 minutes per session, to really pump up your heart and exercise your lungs. Source(s): More info on walking can be found at: http://www.perfect-body-toning.com/walki...

riding bike tightens and strengthen your legs but you have a build up resistance, also you could do StairMaster and the treadmill.
If you don't want real toned muscles in your arms or bulky legs, then just do light exercises like walking. Walk around the neighborhood at about a brisk pace for at least 30 minutes and that'll keep your heart pumping. Let's see....combine walking with something like yoga or pilates..I say Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday are reserved for walking at least 30 minutes...brisk walk...and then Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday are reserved for low-impact yoga or pilates..they say that yoga can burn 300 calories or so per hour so it's pretty good and you don't get bulky from it. You don't have to excercise every day like the schedule above..take a break here and there.
Cycling increases endurance and strength in the calf, quads, and hamstring. I personally bike everymorining for about 2 miles. My legs aren't bulky but real toned. I recommend it. But if you're looking into something else, try swimming, jumping, or running.
I used to hate rigorous exercises but I was also so sick with my big pot belly. Luckily a friend of mine told me this very good site that I found really helpful. It gave me great workouts and diet tips and showed me what I was doing wrong before... I am now in love with regular exercises so much, as keeping my flat stomach makes me feeling so great!

Try it & you'll love it :)
Walking and jogging are both good, as the resistance is next to nothing. In order to build muscle, you need resistance. If you're walking and jogging on flat surfaces for the majority of your exercising, your legs should get toned, but not overly muscled. Same with treadmills.

Elliptical trainers are excellent for cardio, not to mention easier on your knees than jogging. Again, if you don't use too high a resistance, you shouldn't get unwanted muscle.
