Taking a day off from exercising is that okay?

I have been doing some serious cardio like going about 12-16 miles a day on my exercise bike a day burning up to 400 calories..is it okay to take a day off?

It's more than ok. Your body needs at least a day each week to recuperate.
agreed. even arnold schwarzenegger in his prime took sundays off.
Agreed, your body deserves time off. A day or two per week off is no problem. Keep up the cardio work and you will see results.

There was a book in the 70's called "Positive Addiction".... exercise is one such addiction, but do not let it rule you.
Of course it's okay. :) It is probably even better for you to not do cardio every single day, it's a good idea to give your muscles time to relax. It's not realistic to expect yourself to be able to do it every day ... I would say 5 days maximum a week, unless you're training for something. You could alternate cardio days with strength training days for maximum results.

Heck ... I don't like it but sometimes life forces ya to take time off exercising ... just remember that you'll get back to it tomorrow and enjoy the break.
