Need exercise tips involving machines? |
Tomorrow I plan on going out and buying myself a cycling machine because I'm too busy to actually go cycling myself or jogging + the area I live in isn't exactly safe to randomly go running around in. So I plan to buy myself the bike to loose weight. Unless there is some other machine that would be better for this? Also if there is any tips on other exercises or changes in my life/deit that would help. Thanks in advance. hey there, well i would say you should get a proper spinning bike then as they are a lot more effective than the standard bikes. you can peddle sitting down or standing up and once you are used to it you can always put some weights around your legs. when you sit and peddle you can do some arm exercise at the same time, and yet again you can put weights around them too. your diet should be low in sugar&fat and eat a lot of veg, make sure meat is lean and stick to brown rice, pasta and bread. and drink a lot of water!!!! good luck You could join a gym if you have enough spare time as they will have a selection of machines rather than you just using your cycling machine. A tip for if you do go for the cycling machine is to cycle at a comfortable constant speed (not too slo obviously) as this is when you will lose the fat. Alternatives to the cycling machine is the air walker, or the cross trainer. A treadmill or a spinner/stationary bike are excellent ways to excercise and lose weight. They're versatile in that you can change the resistance and pace. Other machines tend to be more for strength training/weightlifting type, which is fine, but usually not great for distance training (ie to burn lots of calories). You can do many excercises without a machine also, when you need a break etc: situps, pushups, lunges, squats, stairs (well you do need stairs), and many others, get creative as far as mixing excercises and workouts: like jogging to loosen up, then cycling for 30 minutes, then doing situps and pushups, then riding some more. Diet? More fruits and vegetables, whole wheat pastas and grains, lean meats/fish, lowfat dairy, and low calorie snacks like fruits and vegetables. Drink lots of water, and only some sports drinks (for electrolytes but not all the time, extra sugars and carbohydrates). Avoid sodas, and juices with added sugar--natural juices are best. athlete i suggest getting an elliptical machine because it's easier to use than a static bike and weight seems to fall off you. although a static bike is a fairly decent way to loose weight the elliptical is easier on the knees and back, and more efficient A cross trainer might give a more general work out. However in my experience the majority of home exercise machines seem to end up as clothes horses! it seems more likely that people stick to exercise if they go out and do it, perhaps it is the social aspect of gyms that improves the odds. GP for more years than I care o remember |
