Cardio Advice?

I am roughly 5"6 or 7, am 16 and weigh 122 pounds. I am comfortable with my weight and have actually gained some weight to be within the range I want to be 120 - 125. I do yoga, not as religiously as I should and I stretched every so often. Although I am comfy with my weight, I think I need to exercise a lot more than I do and need some cardio exercise. My ma has agreed to buy me an exercise bike that I can put in the living room in front of the tv (lol), to encourage my exercising. But everyone is telling me that I me that I should join a gym because I shouldn't do just one type of cardio but a variation. I would like to know if this is a good workout plan:
Yoga: Mornings 1/2 hr : 3 days per week
Stretches: Evenings 10 min: 2 days per week
Cardio (the bike): 1/2 hr (when I can handle that) 3 days per week.

Yoga and stretching are great, and it really seems that you're doing the right thing.
It's also encouraging to know that your motivation to do cardio ISN'T based upon body image issues.
I would also suggest the stationary bicycle (good call mom!), and something comprehensive with regard to the whole cardio picture:

Find something that you like and do it regularly (no more than 4 times per week/no more than 40 minutes per session).

Depending upon your situation (neighborhood crime issues, extreme temperatures, extreme climate issues-torrential rain/snowdrifts-you get the idea, time available for cardio -morning-day-night) you might want to also consider:

Walking with a light weight (no more than 10-15 lbs in a back pack), jogging, skipping rope, etc.

I hope that this helps. Source(s): Competitive sports/working out for 30+ years.

trust me, you do not need a gym membership. your plan seems good to me. i think that you should had three days of running outsdoors for 30 minutes. this will get your heart rate up and work every muscle from your body. plus, gets you outdside!! sooo... add some running outdoors and i think you are set!
Your plan sounds good to me. Just do what you're happy doing. A variation is suggested because people tend to get bored with just one way of excersizing. Also, once your body becomes used to one type, you tend to work less hard at it and it becomes less effective. But, if you're happy with what you're doing, don't stress about it. just keep doing your thing.
