Is it safe to only eat 750 Calories a day? I am a 44 year old woman with no metabolism.? REPOSTED? |
I am not obese, despite going to the gym, & watching what I eat my fat doesn't move. I got so fed up, my own doctor sent me to this other 'wieght' doctor. Background. I kept count on fitday.com for 2 weeks. WEEK 1 Calories eaten 7353 Caloires burned 15505 WEEK 2 Calories eaten 6687 Burned 14916 Over two weeks I allegedly burned 16363 more than I ate. Same wieght as when I started, 142 lbs by the end of that record I kept. That is with 7 workouts either at the gym at 5.30am or at home on the exercise bike (1 bike workout in that total) Cardio and wieghts, and its not muscle, its fat! So, I go to this weight doctor today, and he says, eat only 750 calories a day for a week. I'm concerned its not safe to do that. I'm tired enough now as it is. My own doc has done several thyroid tests that come back 'normal' I am going to see my own doc again tomorrow. Every time I see diet advice it says not to go below 1000 cals a day. This is not muscle, the trainer at the gym agrees - FAT Are you saying the doctor is telling you to consume only 750 calories a day? If that is the case, that doctor shouldn't have his license. But then again, they aren't dieticians. Anyways, you need to speed up your metobolism by eating smaller, multiple meals (4-6) a day, and include some cardio with resistance training. Having both of these will ensure you'll lose the fat. I have attached the following link which is a very interesting article. PLEASE READ IT! I have to tell you that there is no easy, quick fix formula in losing fat. Shows as the Biggest Loser sets a bad example in how to lose weight, so do not follow them. http://www.discussbodybuilding.com/m_111... Oh no, 700 calories is entirely too low. I strongly encourage you to search the web for a daily caloric expendature calculator as soon as possible. You aren't giving your body enough nutrients to function even without exercise. It is very important for you to rethink your diet plan. ISSA Certified Fitness Trainer I know this may be a bit dramatic, but break down the word diet. Actually, take off the the "t" at the end. You get, DIE. There is not one specific diet any one person should be on to lose weight. Unless that is prescribed by a registered dietitian/nutritionist. I've been a fitness professional for over 10 years and NO ONE should ever eat under 1000 calories, let alone 750. That is absurd. Fitday is a wonderful website and you can really track your progress/meal plan/exercise routine and everything in between. If I remember correctly, it may even give you a suggested caloric intake. In any event, check this out: Let's say you wanted to lose 5 pounds of fat. 3500 calories in one pound of fat. So that means you need be in a caloric deficit of 500 calories per day for one week to lose one pound of fat. 500x7=3500 The trick is to supplement that 500 calorie void with something. If you don't, your body will use other sources for energy such as muscle. (getting tired) My suggestion is to supplement your diet with a quality multi-vitamin to help put nutrients into your body without additional calories. Then, start a moderate cardio routine. This will help mobilize stored body fat into the 500 calorie void. Finally, compliment your cardio with a light resistance training program. Such as circuit training or free-weights. As for you actual caloric intake, I would suggest seeing a qualified and registered nutritionist. He or she can create a meal plan best suited for your activity level, weight, and lean mass. PS - Remember each time you exercise your body is going to need energy. If you don't have enough coming in (food) it will do what it can to compensate. I.E. - use muscle for energy This may sound crazy, but you can actually keep a lot of your fat by not eating enough. It goes back to what I said earlier. Your body fat yields so much energy. Why would it let it go? I hope that helped a little... well i think it is not ok to only eat 750 calories a day but I've seen people only eat 750calories a day. however, they're not as active as you are. If nothing is happening just go straight to a cosmetic surgeon, and have your fat sucked out. that is not even sufficient enough to support your basal metabolic rate. your metabolism is probably low because your body has become accustomed to starvation mode and decreased your metabolism to compensate for the low intake. you need to start eating 1200 calories per day and incorporate an exercise routine to burn fat (cardio) and increase your metabolism by building lean muscle mass (lifting weights). good luck. I think the first question that comes to mind is whether your calculation of calories is correct. How do you determine how much you have burned during your exercise routine? How do you determine how much you eat? I think that you are in balance with your consumption and expenditure of calories. So, you are making mistakes somewhere. As for the doctor, is that a licensed medical doctor? That is highly unusual, and I would get a second opinion. |
