How much weight do I have to loose to notice a difference? |
I exercise on an exercise bike an hour and a half 2 times a day so I burn about a pound a day so how long will it take before I notice a change? also someone said I may not be able to loose any weight because I reached a plateau, im around 250 is that true at all? thanks. The plateau hasn't got anything to do with what you weigh. It means you aren't showing any weight loss on the scales. It's not a big deal, because even if you aren't losing pounds, you still lose inches. As for your exercise program, talk to a professional exercise trainer. I think there comes a point when your body reacts to such extreme exertion by starting to conserve calories. You might be better off with a more moderate program. As for when you will notice changes, your clothes should start to be looser, and your fingers and toes can feel thinner, after you've lost about 5-7 pounds. Good luck! Sheez that's a lot of working out. You didn't plateau if you're 250 lbs. That only happens when you get too close to the size your body wants to be and you don't kick it up a notch. If you are working out three hours a day andf losing 1 lb each day then you are doing exactly what you want to do. In fact that sounds kind of dangerous but at your current weight that's ok at first. Power to you, just keep up the good work. It will take a couple months to notice a difference in any weight loss program. You have to be very patient and consistently exercise and watch what you eat. It's hard work but you sound like you're doing fine. That's quite a bit to work out one day. I'm assuming you must want to lose the weight fast, that must be why you're workout out so much. That's not a bad thing to do; however, if you want to keep the weight off, plan on doing that workout for the rest of your life pretty much. Once you meet your goal weight, if you stop your exercise program and dieting, you will just gain it all back. If you're eating right, you should not reach a plateau right now. You should cut back on the exercising though. A pound a day is unhealthy. no! you are excersizing a lot and you will definitly notice a difference in time. Usually 5 pounds is enough to notice a difference depending on your size. Maybe you should try to find another excersize technique. Also, make sure you drink water before you work out, not during! it just brings on more water weight! hope i helped. So you're exercising 3 hours per day? That's nuts, man! :-) You don't need to do that much. At some point you are going to burn out because that's just not sustainable. Better to do moderate exercise and cut your calories moderately. The only way to lose one pound is to cut or burn 3500 calories. Yes, that's 3500 calories. I sincerely doubt you are burning that in one day, even after bicycling for two hours. As for noticing a difference, that varies from person to person. Also depends on how much weight you have to lose. I don't know your age or height, or your weight goal, so knowing you are now at 250 doesn't tell me much. On a smaller person, probably every 10 pounds or so will probably show a difference. On a larger person, it might be harder to perceive the difference immediately. As for the plateauing, that's a natural part of the weight loss process. Usually the best way to break through a plateau is to change things up. Different exercise, staggering calories up and down, etc. If, however, you are undereating and overexercising, you may actually stymie your weight loss by making your body feel it is starving. It will hang on to every spare calorie for dear life and you may actually find it more difficult to lose than if you were eating a bit more and exercising less. Food is fuel for your body. Depriving your body of the fuel it needs (especially if you are exercising 3 hours a day!) is not what you want. Don't be impatient. Slow but steady loss is what you want. The way to get past a plateau is to move to proper training. This means one day you go longer. Another day you go faster. After about ten minutes to get your muscles loosened up, you go as fast as you can for say 30 seconds, then for the next 30 seconds go normal pace, then fast again. You do this until your muscles are sore. See: http://www.drmirkin.com/fitness/1049.htm... drmirkin.com |
