Is it okay to do pilates everyday?



I've been trying very hard lately to lose weight and recently added pilates to my exercise regiment (I already do about 15-25 miles 5 times a week on an exercise bike without any progress sad huh)? And just wanted to know if I could maybe push my body and hopefully lose weight faster by doing pilates every day just 20 minutes a day, or if I should stick with it just 3 times a week to let my muscles rest.

i wouldn't. as you progress, those types of exercises are just like lifting weights. you should do it every other day so your body has time to rest. when i did pilates, i only did it twice a week and that was for strength. pilates doesn't make you lose weight, but its still very beneficial. but theres lots of stuff that you can do, so good luck!!! and if you do 15-25 miles 5 times a week, you are definitely over exercising and you probably won't see any progress. and anything takes time and can be overdone. i used to be an exercise junkie and there is so much stuff that you can do. maybe you could try something besides the bike to make it more interesting.
It is perfectly OK to do it every day as far as I'm concerned but don't forget you are looking for advice in a forum called YAHOO ANSWERS !!!

Um yeah...pilates are nothing to what we do everyday in practice...lol
No really if you are already skinney and such. But I highly recommand for over 200pounds.

As with any excercise it is fine in moderation. Losing weight *fast* is not a good idea...You are over doing it which can cause side effects with your musceles,,,Relax and do moderation...

Eating correctly helps too...Keep in mind- muscle burns fat,,,,Moderating your calorie intake with correct fats and sugars-veggies, you have to balance it all out. Go slow and take your time.
