Do i eat less and more often to lose weight?



I'm trying to lose weight, a lot actually. I hear so many rules, but im lost on which is best.

I hear that i should eat less 3 meals a day no snacking.
BUT i also hear to get your metabolism up you should eat more. 4-5 small meals a day and a couple snacks.
I do mild exercise, walking and biking, but not too much. I just dont know which plan to follow? whats best to lose a lot of weight?

im doing the 3 meals a day and im not losing any weight i'm afraid to step up and eat more small meals a day and find that im gaining.

if i should eat small meals every 3 hours how small is a small meal?

Don't listen to what was posted before about snacking -- snacking very important, as long as you eat healthy snacks. (I like things like carrot sticks or other raw vegetables, nuts, a bit of cheese, hard boiled eggs, etc.) Eating smaller meals throughout the day does keep your metabolism going. Furthermore, if your meals are spaced far apart, you will be more hungry at each mealtime and much more likely to overeat. By snacking regularly, you never allow yourself to get too hungry, and you won't overeat.
just don't snack, eat healthier meals (i.e. salads, lean ham, 1% milk), and I know you've heard it before, but EXCERCISE (a lot more tha you already do)!!!!! You WILL gain weight if you don't excercise more. lighter meals do nothing if you don't burn calories, and if there are no calories to burn (the effect of not eating full meals) then you will pass out and die of malnutrition.

Mild exersize? If you want to lose weight you have to work out rigorously and frequently.
Eat more small, healthy meals. Keeping your metabolism up is key. Exercise not only burns calories but also wakes up your metabolism.
Your breakfast should be the largest meal of the day. You should have a light lunch and dinner. Snacks in between should be small like a handful of nuts and raisins, fruit or veges.Include 30mins of exercise at least 4 times a week. My best mate did this and she lost a whole lot of weight. this may sound eating disordery but just eat less. and that 4-5 small meals a day, you should think of it in terms of one dinner plate that you spent the entire day nibbling from.
My advice would be to eat more smaller meals. When you eat less and bigger meals your body will store more and it will take more time to break down what you eat. Eat your three main meals a day but then snack as well. One of your snacks could be a piece of fruit. A granola bar. Any vegetable. Carrots are good. Look for foods high in water if that makes sense. Cucumbers, carrots, celery. All really good. It is ok to snack when you are snacking healthy. Healthy snacks provide essentials that your body needs to be able to help you shed those extra pounds. The best of luck to you and I hope I was of some help. also really pay attention to what your three main meals are. broiled chicken. egg whites. I really like organic oatmeal. It's better than it sounds. Look for your local health food stores. I've found that just shopping more at health food stores instead of regular grocery stores helps. Less temptation.
