Have anyone thought about donating their bikes.....? |
With the Iraqi War going on and our soldiers having badly damage legs or missing a leg, I think that hospitals are probably running out of rehab bikes for the soldiers to exercise on. Or just for anyone is who is missing or badly damage a leg for any other type of reason. My question is have anyone ever thought of donating their old bikes to hospitals so that they they can alternate it into a rehab bike??? That is exactly what I am thinking to do after my bike life cycle is done. as a soldier (non-injured, thank God) i think that this is a great idea. you can check with the hospitals and clinics at local millitary installations. if you need help fiding one contact a local recruiter and ask, the have to know where all the closest ones are. i will warn you how ever that budget spending is done about a year or so out and unless you are willing to donate an indor training stand to go with it the buracracy can be pretty thick. other wise local civillian hospitals may be better able to use the donation. i just had knee surgery 6 months ago and would have loved to use my own bike or atleast a road trainer for rehab at the base clinic. also you may consider any local schools that might have or want to start a cyling team. good luck and thanks for thinking of the soldiers. you rock Source(s): soldier cyclist Great suggestion... I'm about to check with my local hospitals and rehab centers to see if they have a need for donated bikes. Thanks for the idea... wish more people would consider things like this. |
