How can you find time for a workout? |
at times I am good with exercising, but then I get busy with work and hobbies and I feel too tired for any additional exercise and stop. Any tips on how to find time for some cardio exercise in ones day (I bike to work, but it's not even 2 miles, so that doesn't get me going)? I always wonder how the people who recommend 1 hour per day have the time for it. I agree with you. I do an aerobics video usually every other day for 25 minutes and I'm seeing results and it's nice because I can do it at home and it doesn't take me 10 minutes to the gym and then the time to drive back. It's quick and you don't have to have fancy equipment either. But the reason I don't do it everyday is the same as you, I get too tired but I find I feel better if I keep it up every other day and feel more energized than when I skip a few days which gets me more out of shape and out of breath. I also put a wet cool cloth around my neck and I've found that helps me keep going and not get too tired and quit before it's over. You have to work it into a routine. For instance, go directly to the gym after work, that way you are not distracted when you go home. If you make it part of your day, after a while it will be more weird if you DON'T work out. And you'll feel guilty, so you'll be more inclined to do it. do it early in the morning if you can. or even after work. some people do it on weekends. if that is impoosible you can work out like 2-3 days a week. Well, the motivation to exercise is always a difficult area for many people and the excuse is always this "no time to exercise"...... To stir up your initiative, first off, treat exercise as part of your lifestyle. Meaning you treat it like you treat eating, sleeping, working etc, in other words, a part of you. That way, it's easier to stick to the exercise routine and the schedule. To make it even easier for you, I suggest you break up the exercise into bits and pieces if you can't find the time to do it all at one go. For instance, if you aim to exercise for 30 mins in a day, you can exercise for 15 mins in the morning, another 15 mins in the afternoon. The effects of exercise are cumulative. You do it in bits and pieces and it adds up at the end of the day and meets your targeted threshold. The trick is to grab whatever chance you've to exercise! You'd be surprised that you actually sail through the day and meet the required exercise time. There's a good article on why people should exercise.
