SAHMs: What are ideas to keep your baby or toddler busy?

What are things that a stay at home mom on a budget can do to keep her baby or toddler busy?

I have thought of a few things, but I would like your ideas too! Free activities are best!

Library/Story Time
Park visits
Bike rides
Craft projects
Exercise class/dvd
Playgroup meetings
Feed ducks at park/lake
Reading/learning at home
Beach

My toddlers LOVE sidewalk chalk and sidewalk painting along with finger painting. They can sit there for HOURS and draw on the patio or sidewalk to our house.
I have a 2 year old granddaughter and she loves it when I put a sheet over some chairs and make her a house to play in and put some toys in there with her it usually keeps her occupied for a couple of hours.
You don't have to leave home, just go out in the backyard. Let them watch the ants, make shapes out of the clouds, find bugs, teach them about plants, dig in the dirt, run through the sprinkler. Inside, take sheets and make tents over the furinture (one of my kids favorites!) and let them eat lunch in their tent, let them help make cookies or rice krispy treats, let them play dress up in your old clothes, make cards to send to grandparents, fill up the tup and let them play, my daughter loved to brush my hair when she was little and I loved it too. That's how I got to watch my soap, just let her stand on the couch behind me and brush my hair while it was on!
Anything in the kitchen. Put a chair up to the sink and let them 'wash dishes', playing with water; it keeps most kids busy for ages. You can put food colouring in the water and detergent, they love it. Cooking; let them mix up boxed cookie dough and help you shape it. Surprisingly, kids seem to like cleaning out fridges too. Let them take all the food out and sponge the inside then put it all back in however they want. It's amazing how much fun toddlers can have in a well-supervised kitchen. Also empty out a cupboard on ground level to make a 'puppy house', kids love being puppies in a clean cupboard with a blanky and some stuff in it. Dress-ups are always good, face-painting with some makeup you don't like is a good one. Let your kids use the computer, they will like making words and letters in a big font at a word processer while sitting on your lap. And every kid in the world seems to like washing cars, for some reason. Just give them a sponge and be prepared to change all their clothes afterwards. Grow spinach or sunflower seeds in a pot; kids love watering plants. Almost everything you would do in your own day, kids love doing with you so long as you can find some way for them to help or participate; you can make ordinary life and chores exciting and interesting to toddlers as they are fascinated by ordinary life. And of course you can't go past fingerpainting, and mixing up your own paints with flour, water, and food colouring. Good luck, hope these ideas help.
Cardboard box fun! Build trains, cars, spaceships, houses, you can make anything with a cardboard box. Believe me this can keep them occupied for hours! Pretend play will help them develop their imagination!
Hiking at a local park is the best! I take my son with a sling, a jogging stroller and a magnifying glass and we explore every corner until we are exhausted! He will spend an hour watching the ants crawl by or a spider in a web or wanting to know the names of plants and trees, its a great way to teach him about nature and for me to learn about the local fauna and flora.
