Do the slim fast or weight watchers shakes work to kick start weight loss? |
I know.....I know I have to change my lifestyle in order to lose weight, and I have a pretty good start, but have not seen any results. I have pretty much cut out fast food and junk foods. I eat salads, fresh fruits and veggies a lot more than before. I am drinking water like crazy and am exercising moderately by walking, bike riding or tennis daily. I have started lifting light weights and doing sit ups/crunches. I just want to jump start and see some results within 2 weeks. I have been doing so for about 3 weeks already. Do you think two weeks of shakes is OK and will it help? I would love to drop about 10 pound in 2 weeks. ( I started about 3 weeks ago) I am open to all forms of sincere advice. Thanks. They do to an extent, if you use them 2x per day with a healthy dinner it will shrink your stomach...however they have a lot of calories, you could have some cereal, coffee and fruit for the same calories (measure the cereal and use skim milk) I lost some weight with them...but don't rely on them for a long time. watch what fruit you are eating some are fattening, don't have juice! Good luck, it's hard. hmm sounds like you need to jump the metabolism...How sedentary have you been? and how long? I am a firm believer in hatha yoga as it targets the whole body..muscles you did not know you had or even used! Slim fast is full of chemicals and carbs...stay the course and look at some basic hatha yoga stretches as part of your routine. that is the best I can do from here oh and patience..you are changing old habits and they will not give up easily!! 5 pounds a week is good pace Those "shakes" are dumb, and pretty much a fraud, IMO. It's doubtful that they'll satisfy your appetite for the food that you actually chew and eat. They know that chocolate style shakes will appeal to a lot of women, especially. What's more disgusting is that they're now advertising luscious meals that you get delivered for a weight loss program, in a clever, competitive scheme. "Rib-sticking" is the word I believe they use. Right. nope...simple..eat healthy and exercise I did the Slim Fast diet. I cut out all munchies and soda. I drank two slim fast a day and TONS of veggies and fruit. I tried to eat smaller portions when I did eat dinner. The only thing about Slim Fast is it may give you diarrhea. I had it for a few days but I stuck with it because it was my chocolate fix. I lost about 40 pounds. Whenever I start gaining weight I go back on it for a few weeks and take it back off. Ok girl, first don't "pretty much" cut out fast food and junk food COMPLETELY cut it out. These are the worst two things you can possibly eat. You need to do vigorous work outs every day, continue to drink water like crazy and the shakes are "meal replacement" not diet shakes. They are supposed to help you control your calorie intake. Try them, they will not fill you up, you will be hungry. Eat salads, fat free, calorie free stuff, and continue with the fruits and veggies, stay away from carbs..but remember 40 mins of cardio A DAY will kickstart things, do this for about 10 days. Then you can start adding carbs for an energy boost here and there, but you still need to regulate them!! Good Luck!! Hmmm... Well, the first two weeks are actually the hardest, because your body is still getting used to all of the activity. After that, though, your metabolism goes into overdrive. You may very well be able to drop five pounds a week, but not right away. Give it some time. ^^ And btw, I wouldn't recommend Slim Fast shakes. I tried those, and they get really disgusting after a while, and like the person above me said, they don't fill you up. I don't know if the same goes for Weight Watchers shakes. I've heard they're good, but they're really not my thing. In my opinion, stay away from the shakes altogether and stick to real food. The water, fruit, and veggies are a good start, but make sure that you get protein, too. Lean meat is the best in this instance, because it fills you up with fewer calories. And some carbs are necessary, both for mental satisfaction and the energy they provide. Also, once you really get into the routine of regular exercise, you should step up the intensity. You might want to consider becoming an actual Weight Watchers member. The program forces you to track what you eat, and therefore, plan accordingly. |
