South Beach Diet Question - So hungry!?



Hello I started the South Beach Diet three days ago and I have noticed that my appetite has increased. I was wondering if I should be worried or how I can curb my cravings for food. Before dieting, I would eat lunch and dinner - no breakfast and hardly any snacks. Now I eat breakfast, lunch and dinner and I cannot keep my hands off of the turkey wraps, mozerella sticks and celery sticks! I weighed myself and I have gained a pound so I really don't know what to think right now. Since starting the diet, I have been riding my bike for about 20 minutes each day as exercise. Any advice?

First off...
There is no such thing as NEGATIVE CALORIES.
There's CALORIES in celery, it's just that the amount of chewing needed to eat it is more than the celery has itself.
But if you dunk the celery in dip, well, that's just lard.

What I find, is that with diets, you start obsessing over food. Food you can eat, food you can't, food you'd want to eat, and food you're eating.
So, this can cause you to be more hungry. (Pavlov's Dog. Show the dog food, and dog gets hungry and wants food.)

Also, when you're doing exercise, your body needs more energy to build muscles. It needs protein. Instead of filling up on a lot of carbohydrates, try eating more protein (like a lean breast of chicken) and a large salad or grilled veggies.

Remember too, that since it's summer, you tend to dehydrate quicker. Often, thirst and dehydration hides itself as hunger. Before you reach for the food, drink a glass or two of water, and see if you feel better.

If all else fails, try EFT. (Emotional Freedom Technique). It's like acupuncture, but without the needles. It's quite relaxing, and theraputic.

celery sticks are fine snacks by the way.. they have negative calories... definately stay away from the wraps w/ loads of carbs and the mozerella sticks are plain bad food for anyone! you can eat things like fruit and vegetables (celery)... drink fluids like water/ vitamin water/ skim milk in between meals... that may fill you up.. the milk definately will...
