Honestly is this a healthy eating program? |
Some people have said its too little; but it honestly fills me up; I'm 15 and yeah; this meal plan is filling for me breakfast: fiber one bar lunch; 3/4 cup special k cereal with a little 1% milk some almonds snack; a plum a few more almonds (for protein) dinner; turkey sandwich- 1 bread, 1 slice turkey, cheese, lettuce sometimes i have like cereal as a snack after if we have vegetables sometimes i eat those too; like celery; or celery with cream cheese. Also, if we have fresh cut up fruit i may snack on that(cantelope, pineapple, strawberries-if we have those i basically eat the whole carton in one day...oops :) For exercise I do crunches, leg lifts, run sometimes, if not bike ride, or even just walk. oh; and i play volleyball It sounds like too little. Your body probably needs around 1,300 calories a day just to maintain itself (I'm assuming you're average weight, if you're overweight, then you need MORE calories) It definately does not sound like enough since you also exercise. I'd take in more calories and protein, especially if your an an exercise routine. Consult your doctor, they would no more about your specific case. It depends....if your a girl, yeah, this is a great eating program. This sounds to me like....800 calories? Give or take a couple hundred? If anything, this does seem a little light, especially since you are exercising. Try adding an extra slice of turkey or cheese to that sandwiche, have a small glass of milk with that snack, or have a few extra almonds. If your a guy, this is probably way to little, and you should at least double this unless you want to quit growing. Your choices look good, and its good that you eat veggies and fruits a lot. Make sure you are getting enough healthy fats, that would be my only suggestion. As long as you are feeling full, have energy to play around and exercise, and aren't ever super-hungry/tired/groggy/grum... etc, then this looks great. Oh, one more thing, add a multi-vitamin to the mix; you are likely not getting enough of all your nutrients, and a MV would do the trick. Keep up the good work! |
