Walking? Please answer!?



Is walking really a great way to drop pounds? I grew 3 inches last year so running is really hard on my ankles and Knees. Here is the exercise I did yesterday:
30 minutes power walking
30 minutes vigorous bike riding
crunches, pushups,lunges,squats,situps.

If I continue doing these exercises...will I begin to lose weight? How much weight could I possibly lose in 2 weeks?

yes, u will. just make sure you eat healthy and drink at least 1 gallon of water a day or two liters. it will help you lose more weight.
yes u will defiantly lose lots of weight and I'm guessing about 15 pounds
Walking doesnt do anythign to be honest
everyone in the world walks, even obese people, and you dont see them getting any skinnier

i would try and strengthen my ankles and keep up the running because that drops pounds and gives you muscle
the crunches, pushups, lunges and situps are good but squats hurt ur knees like a mother
As they say, you gotta keep your heart rate up. A good way to check is am I sweating during and after the workouts.

Loosing weight also depends on what you eat, you might tone up, but the pounds won't drop that fast. It might even go up a bit, like people say muscles weight more then fat. So don't worry about the what the scale says, just measure it by your clothes.
ok, Congratulations on starting a healthy lifestyle first of all, and second, walking does help you lose weight. I am proof, i was 196, 5'5, and i was horribly fat. i started walking in Aug. 2006, and by Dec 06 i had gone down to 174. i was not taking any pills or stuff like that, IT WILL MAKE IT WORSE,
i was drinking water, eating healthy, and cheating once or twice, dont let it stop you if you do. What i would also recommend is to not over work yourself if you are just starting out, build your stamina gradually. After some weeks incorporate a little running in order to change it up and force your body to burn more calories. Good luck, you can lose up to ten pounds in two weeks bc of what is called "water weight" its hard after that, bc now your really losing fat. i hope you do well!
