Will swimming along with other exercises help me lose weight? |
ok i go to the gym every morning i do 20 min treadmill to get the heart pumping, then i do 20 min elliptical and 20 mins bike, i dont' do this every day though i do other exercises as well sometimes but i get bored at times, i wanted to add something else so i thought i would add swimming but i was wondering if i do these other exercises in the morning and do swimming in the evening will this help me lose weight? also i know it will help tone up the body but i am more focused on losing weight! so is it a good idea to do the swimming later in the day like say an hour i have eaten dinner or something? Cross training is essential to an exercise program and I am applauding you for diversifying your exercise routine. It's not the kind of exercise that determines your calorie burn, it's the amount of expenditure. If you do a lot of swimming or other activities, but your calorie consumption is high, weight loss is going to be difficult. Also take a look at your diet. Make sure that you're on par with eating healthily. Keep up with your workouts! Swimming will tone your muscles, but it might not help in overall weight loss...keep dieting and running because those 2 thigns are your best bet to losing the weight. Swimming is quite effective at losing weight. You get lots of good exercise, and also use calories to warm the pool water. You can do it anytime that is convenient for you. Theres no trick, if you excersize enough to burn more calories than you eat, you will lose weight. A really really really REALLY easy way to help yourself is to just cut soda and juice and just drink ice water. Since your body needs to heat up the water (only ice water) to use it, if you drink ice water instead of soda, juice, anything, youll burn 100 calories a day. Just monitor your calories and excersize so that you burn enough to help you lose weight. The water also helps tremedously. Good luck. If swimming will help keep your exercise routine fresh for you, then go for it! Of course, it's great to crosstrain, too. Maybe you should think about training for a triathalon! If you are serious about losing weight, the calories in the food you eat should be less than the energy you use. You will have to increase your metabolic rate now, and plan your diet carefully.
