I have no strength gains after low/high weight/rep exercises. Thoughts, explanations? |
I have no strength gains after low/high weight/rep exercises.... I am eating enough protein and getting enough sleep. History: I used to be in amazing shape all my life until I stopped being active about 10 years ago. Before that I was very very flexible, never even came close to an injury, and was always up in the top of my school gym classes and hockey/soccer teams.. Currently, I still have really low bodyfat (about 6%) and seem to be strong and have good cardio... but it seems sitting on the computer not being active for so long has done something to me... I've been working out for the past 6 months with no gains. Jogging/running in the forest, biking, doing all sorts of bodyweight exercises... Anyone know what could be wrong here? Are you reaching your point of failure? If not, that may be why you are not building new muscle. You have to tear it down to build it up. Also, are you taking a day off every week? You must allow your body to rest. If you don't, you will not see as much progress because the body is amazingly adaptable. If you diet every day without a day off then the body gets used to it. If you exercise every day, especially if you do the same things every time, it will adapt to that as well. It sounds like you are mixing it up but if you are not reaching your point of failure while weight training then that is very likely the reason you are not seeing any improvement. |
