Am I doing too much cardio at the gym? |
The first thing I do at the gym is cardio. I run on an exercise bike first for over 8 minutes. Then I get on the tread mill and am on it for 32 mintues. Just today I averaged 6.8 mph on the treadmill and burned 512 calories and went 3.6 miles. Then I used weight machines and used free weights. I am looking to get faster but I want to get stronger and build muscle. I talked to a trainer there and he said I am overdong it and should only run for about 10 min. for a warm up. I want to get faster, but I feel like I am overdoing it with the cardio everyday. I am 16 yrs. old, 5 ft. , 105 lbs and lean. Naw, can't over do cardio, really. I mean someone who has a bad heart could, but someone like you, with nothing but ability, no problem. Besides, what you describe is really not a LOT. Not sure what the trainer is getting at. Never heard of a trainer telling someone to do less cardio, but then again, I'm not a trainer, so maybe he knows something I don't. |
