Any recommendations for making my bike seat more comfortable?

I recently started biking around my neighborhood for some exercise but the seat is very hard and after a day or two it has made my bum quite sore. Is there any type of pad or cover that I can place over the existing seat to make it more comfortable?

You are experiencing discomfort because the bike seat isn't properly positioned to support the two bony bumps on the underside of your butt. (the "sit bones.")

You need to adjust the seat to try to find a comfortable position. Buy a multitool, and bring it with you when you ride so you can experiment by making on-the-spot adjustments.

There are three adjustments you can make to the seat:

- Pitch (tilt the seat up or down).

- Horizontal position (slide the seat forward or back an inch or two)

- Height (the most obvious adjustment).

Even the smallest adjustment can make a HUGE difference-- Just changing the angle of the seat one degree can radically redistribute your weight from front to back on the seat, for instance.

It took me 3 months of tweaking and experimentation to find a comfortable seat position when I bought my bike. The difference is drastic-- Before I can't ride the bike for 15 minutes, now I can do 100-mile rides no problems.

Try adjusting your seat and I'm sure sooner or later you will find a comfortable position too. Good luck.

Here's a few things to think about:

First: what are you wearing ?- a decent pair of cycling shorts with padding should address your start up needs: check out Pearl Izumi but whoever, the most panels the better

Second - make sure your seat position is lined up with your body size and posture - big source of problems that your local bike shop should be able to figure out

Third: your riding style - if you are a "rocker" you will get sore.

Get padded bike shorts. I don't care if you think they're dorky. Wear something over them, if you must. They have gender specific padding designed to minimize the issues your having. They will help you. More padding isn't necessarily a good thing. More padding can lead to chafing on a long ride, and that's never fun.

You have some good suggestions above.
Also note that after more weeks of riding, your bum will toughen up and get more used to the discomfort.

you can buy a softer bike seat! simple soulution!

there is and i have one on my bike idk where you get it though my dad got it
