Calorie conversions on excerise bike.? |
I've recently got an exercise bike, but am confused with the moniter measuring the amount of calories I have burned off. my sister also has an exercise bike and hers calculates differently. When she goes round 3-4 times, it clocks up one. When I go round on mine 100 times, it clocks up 1. There actually the same thing. Whenever you look at the lable on an item of food and it says 100 calories what it should actually say is 100 kilocalories (KCAL) but for some reason the food industry write it as 'calories' just to confuse matters. So if you have burned 100 KCAL on your bike then you have burned 100 calories in terms of food. No conversion needed -- it's the same thing. If you want to know the science behind it, just google 'calorie kilocalorie' and you'll find out. |
