What's the difference between the 'sit down' exercise bike and the 'upright' one? |
Which muscles in the legs do they affect, is there a difference.. the sit down ones are more comfortable elevation http://ezinearticles.com/?Upright-vs-Rec... So that erm- fat folk can exercise more acceptably in a gym- it's all about bums on seats = money! gym membershipwise! Not sure about the different muscles that are trained, but I find that on a recumbent bike there is much less strain on the wrists and bottom, so that you can excercise for longer and in greater comfort, while getting just as good a workout. I am not overweight, but often find that on a normal bike my bum and hands get numb. The sit down (recumbant) bikes give more support to the back and cause less stress to the knees. The upright ones do not support your back and put more stress on your knees. I prefer the recumbant bike, but I also use the upright one. |
