When's the best time to exercise dogs?

i have two hyperactive dogs, a lab and a shih tzu (hyperactive because i'm probably lazy lol).

recently, i started exercising them, with me on the bike. they are both very fast and and strong. the shih tzu can even pull me. they both enjoy this particularly the lab, who has a huge amount of energy (i also sometime bring the lab to the beach in the morning to play frisbee).

i usually take them out to exercise at night, after their dinner. i let the lab run at most 20 minutes. the shih tzu maybe just 5minutes.

the question is, is it okay to exercise them immediately after dinner? i figured i'd hit two things with one stone because aside from their exercise, it would also be the time for them to use the "toilet" (neighbor's lawn lol). won't it have any effect on their digestion? the lab is quite on the heavy side. i'm also thinking ankle sprain.

Exersizing them right after dinner runs the risk of them bloating which could easily be fatal. While bloat is more common in deep chested dogs it is best to let all dogs rest for at least an hour after any meal.

I think is morning...

in the morning!!a good 20min walk.then in the afternoon after ur dinner.a longer run bowt 30

Fluffy is right, bloat is a horrible thing! My bullmastiff suffered from that, its a rotten thing for a dog and can spell death, i was lucky and caught my mastiff in time, let them rest for about an hour before any exercise.

Strenuous exercise should not given for acouple of hours either side of mealtimes.

Never take them out after you, or they have eten dinner, as fluffy said, could cause bloating, usally walk them around about 30 mins after dinner, let it settle, and never take them 30 mins or less before they go to bed, it usally makes them harder to get to sleep....

I think in evening because my mother also had a dog that liked to exercise in the evening..........

Morning before breakfast and in the evening

never run a dog after dinner they can screw there stomach to where it twist and it could be very very very bad
