I want to start becoming more fit, i have an exercise bike. i need to know how often to work out and how long?



any advice or tips on keeping fit.

Half an hour of brisk walking a day is a good start, if you can walk up hill, then even better. As you have an exercise bike you could try half hour on that instead.

You don't have to pump iron in the gym for hours upon hours to get fit, just do about an hours worth of exercise per day and you should feel a difference.

start off gently. try 10-15 minutes a day for the first week until you feel it isnt a struggle then up your time and setting on the bike to make it harder. then you should be looking to train 3 to 4 times a week and you could also try other exercises like walking, swimming, weights, etc. have a healthy diet as well that should do it. always remember to make sure you warm up and stretch before and after any training. if you are serious though you should consider a gym or personal trainer.
Figure your target heart rate. age-220 the subtract your resting heart rate then multiply your percentage of intensity then add your resting heart rate back. It really isn't as complicated as it sounds. Then keep your heart rate at that for at least 20 minutes 5 days a week and work your way up to 45.
Start out with 20-30 minutes 3-4 times a week and work up to 5-6 times a week and gradually increase your time to 60 minutes . you need to take at lease 1-2 days off a week to let you muscles recover and repair.
