I find that my knees are "tight" immediately following and for days after riding my bike. I do quad & hamstring stretches as well as calf stretches. Could it be I'm not holding them long enough? Do I need to repeat? Any help would be appreciated. This started once I upped my ride from 7.5 miles to 15.2 miles AND once I upped from 350 calories to 500 calories on the stationery bike.
wow..good workout...my legs get tight feeling too...hold each stretch for a minimum of 30 seconds..just a gentle stretch..it should not hurt...a good one is to stand at the bar...and slowly reach behind you and grab ahold of your foot...knees close together..and slowly stretch to your comfort level by gently pulling upward on that foot..this gets the quads really well....don't forget to release those ankles too...ankles circles...in each direction..nice slow circles...lastly, the "oriental squat" stretch...bending your knees, squat down as low as you can go..keeping your feet flat on the floor...stretches your lower back...go gentle on all of these..if not sure about the proper positions, use google |
