I want to exercise with a bike, but i have no idea what to look for in a bike? |
i'll mostly be on cement, a little gravel and a field that is a little grassy, are there resistence levels on bike? Since you are starting out, you probably want a bike that is comfortable and will handle OK on the different types of terrain. Since going very fast doesn't seem to be one of your priorities, you probably don't want a road racer or touring bike (those are the ones with the skinny tires and the dropped down curved handle bars). You want to get either a mountain bike or a hybrid bike. A hybrid is like a cross between a mountain bike and a road bike -- usually like a mountain bike only with thinner, smoother tires. Whatever you do, don't cheap out with one of those $100 bikes that you find a Walmart or Target. Those fall apart in no time, and don't give you a smooth confident ride. For a decent beginner bike, you should expect to pay about $300-$400. A local bike shop is the best place to go to get hooked up with solid advice. make sure its the correct tallness for you. There are mountain bikes for rough terrain. Go to a good bike shop and tell them what you are looking for and they will guide you in the right direction. Sounds like a regular inexpensive mountain bike would fits you. |
