Elliptical or bike? |
I am looking for your PERSONAL OPINIONS based on PERSONAL EXPERIENCE... I have a very, very small house (less than 900 sq ft) ...i have a great room (living/dining/kitchen) and could easily squeeze an exercise bike or elliptical in... but which is better in your opinion? I know I can find compact ones for each... but did you get a better workout with the elliptical or the bike? which one was less boring? i am not worried about what is going to get worked out the most... just looking for ease of use, non-boring/repetitive, and just personal opinions!!! elliptical Honestly, I prefer the elliptical over a bike or a treadmill. I have gotten great results from using the elliptical machines at my gym. People are complementing me daily on my physique. There are various levels of resistance you can use on it, so starting out you can use less resistance until you can work your way up. The best part is that there isn't any impact on your knees like there is with a treadmill. To me, the bike is boring. The elliptical is a great cardio workout. me. I prefer the eliptical - you get a better workout, and it is a lower impact on your knees. The elliptical machine is much better than the bike. The elliptical machine works the abs, the back muscles, the legs and arms-- it gives you a total body workout. The stationary bike works the legs only, which may create muscle imbalance between the lower back and legs. I also believe that stationary bikes may contribute to joint overuse without additional benefits-- I just do not like the flexed position of the knees, hips and ankles that the person is in when using the bike. I am a physical therapist. |
