Has anyone seen exercise equipment with games on them? |
I used to be a member of a gym in Sydney that had rowing machines with little monitors on them. When you used the machine it became like a sort of game where you would see a picture of a guy rowing and the faster you went the faster he went. You could also race against a computer component, be chassed by a shark or a few other rowing related games.. The graphics where really crude, think spectrum/commodore 64 level, but it really made the exercise to much more fun. I have never seen this since. Has anyone else used these machines? Do they have exercise bike/treadmill equivalents? Alternatively are there any exercise equipment you can hook up your you playstation or xbox? I have used that exact peice of equipment in the uk at the first gym I ever joined. It made rowing a lot of fun, although they hadn't turned the volume down when I first used it. Very embarrasing when the jaws theme tune kicked in. I have seen something similar with bikes where you have a very crude picture of you on the bike then anyone else on the other bikes can chose to race you. You both pick a track and a time etc etc and you're off. Pretty good actually and you can have eight racing at the same time. No shark though! I have seen a kids bike that links to the xbox and there is another one coming out called the motivatrix which seems to be game orientated. I have attached a link to a review of it below. I saw a couple of those at Sports Authority (place here in the US that sells all sorts of neat equip.) |
