I'm sure it gets asked a lot on here, but what brand of bike should i buy? |
I mainly want a trail and exercise bike, something simple and 300-400$. Before I've only had used and cheap bikes nothing special. I once had a Trek and even though it was old (someone gave it to me) it still was a great bike in my opinon. I was thinking about going with a Trek again, is there any other brands I should be looking at or specific models? I was also thinking about going steel frame to save some coin too is that a good idea or not. Thanks for taking the time!!!! ok, you're talking about spending 3-4 hundred, so ditch the whole steel frame thing. heavy, bulky, and rusts in bad weather, mud, etc. look for a hardtail that will save you some bucks there. something with entry to mid level components, and a decent front suspension. you should be looking at bikes with an aluminum frame for sure. light weight, low maintenance. Trek is an awesome bike builder, but try other brands like Giant, Motobecane, Specialized. Just make a trip down to your local bike shop (please please please don't go to fu$%ing wal-mart) and see what they can offer you. let them know that you're on a budget and they will help you out. A lot of places will still do lay-a-way for you too if you find something you like but can't drop the dough for it right then and there. Trek puts out a great bike.I myself am very happy with my Specialized hard rock.Though all of specialized bikes are great bikes I just bought a new bike and had a real good time and got a fantastic deal. This is actually a great time to buy. Try this... take a day and go to the professional bike shops. I went to Columbus and hit 7 shops. Brand of the bike from a professional shop isn't as important as the components. Let them educate you. First thing I tell them what purpose I had for the bike, and asked them what they had left over from last year -- on discount. TEST RIDE! Ask -- they let you ride them before buying. trek is a great brand in your price range i would go with a 4300 its an aluminum bike and very well made. i own the bike |
