Is it Okay to take a day off from a diet and exercise program? |
I work out everyday in the morning for 1 hour and a half on an exercise bike. The calorie counter on the bike indicates that i burn about 3,000 calories a day. For the rest of the day, i eat only healthy foods and i stay away form any kind of Junk foods. i'm not focusing on losing weight though, i just want to tone up my muscles. or hopefully lose a dress size. I dont eat alot and i'm basically in good shape, but would it be a good idea to take a break form the diet and exercise, for one specific day of the week . It would save me alot of stress. Thx :D If you are burning about 3,000 calories per day, then you need to be eating a VERY healthy diet of 5 well balanced, light to moderate meals per day. And yes, of course it's okay to take 1 day off every once in awhile. You just need to have the discipline to resume your healthy eating and exercise the next day -- no excuses! Yes in fact you should give your body a break every now and then. You will end up burning yourself out...life is too short to be restricted every single day. NO! Don't do it. One day will turn into two, and before you know it, you'll be back to eating whatever you feel like and you be fat again. Or still be fat, whatever your situation is. trainer Absolutely. It is good to take a day off sometimes, a lot of people take off from exercising for the whole weekend. Sure it's okay. It sounds like you have a very good plan going for yourself. Just make sure you don't take your break and eat a lot of stuff that is really bad for you because it is likely to make you sick since you don't eat that stuff anymore. Good luck to you!! You can over exercize. But, being that you do exercize every day, by now it's probably a habit. We exercise anyway walking to the mailbox, up the stairs, to and from the car. Stress is a terrible risk towards your health, and it's so needed for your well being. Learn to relax, you'll feel so much better. A day is a wonderful start. |
