Why does GM want me to pay $50,000 for an American electric car?

Hell, they have small, reliable electric cars and scooters in the EU for 75% of that! I know the U.S. Congress is involved with this damn ripoff!

Problem child you are idiot-- just blind propaganda -- electric cars are way cheaper per mile at current electric rates, it is not even close. Other technology exist like air compressed engines which are even more efficient. And if we really wanted to get serious about alternative electricity and energy efficiency we could. It is all the people who think like you who constantly stand in the way of progress that keep us back and allow the rest of the world to pass us by.

When the oil and gas prices go down, the prices of a electric car will to. Can't blame them from wanting to capitalize off something that corporatists cause only every 30-40 years.

Um actually if you compare the dollar to the Euro, you'll find that this isn't quite true 50K dollars - 35K Euro, and the cost of these new technologies isn't cheap. Someone has to pay for the first versions. And that's not even considering demand.

The price of things is based on the fair market value, not whether it's fair for you.

I'm sure GM has no intention of trying the sell a $50,000 car against a $20,000 Prius. Besides, nobody want's a car that takes hours to charge, they know that. If they wanted economy they could make a CVCC Honda motor circa '80.

I don't even think GM has any electric cars in the market. If you're talking about the Chysler one I heard about, its around $12,000.
