Why arent electric scooters common vehicles on earth?

Brand new basic electric scooter for 2 persons with speed 40 km/h and range 80 kilometers would satisfy most of the average citizens moving needs.

Howcome most of single people western world drive on 1800 kilogram weighted 5 liter gas cars, old trucks and vagons when the gas costs 1.5 euros per liter, trafic jams are everyday problem not to mention parking problems and costs?

parking a scooter is free and charging scooter battery once a day would cost next to nothing?

I've wondered that myself. I bought an electric scooter a couple of months ago and use it to commute to work every day.

It's a great second vehicle. As you mention, it has plenty of range (realistically 20 miles), good enough speed for short distances (20 mph), and only cost me $1200. You can get one with 30 mile range and 30 mph top speed for $2000. Mine takes 750 Watt-hours to recharge after my 13 hour ride, or 9 cents - less than 1 cent per mile. I can park it basically wherever I want for free, and it creates miniscule emissions.

The only drawback is that it's potentially uncomfortable to ride in the winter. With a rainsuit and good gloves I don't have a problem with it though. I think it should be a much more popular means of transportation than it is.

I live live in the U.S. and we have the same problem as you do.
People don't care,as long as they can get themselves from point"A" to point"B"

They aren't common because everybody is to busy driving Hummers.

I would need a auto anyway because I have to go faster than 40 to keep up with the other traffic or they would run over me.
Besides right now where I am it is averaging 30 degrees, way too cold for a scooter.
The nearest town is 6 miles away, with the nearest metropolitan town 18 miles away, how would I get my groceries home or whatever else I would be needing to buy.

40 km/h is not fast enough for me.
Scooters are not as safe as cars, especially in the heavy traffic I face each day.
A scooter does not protect you from rain and other kinds of bad weather.

Do you have one? If not why not. Those would be reasons others don't have one too.

I think the scooter is useful but for many people they just want use it. the first reason is because you cant take any thing to work with you. the second reason is that it wold just be to cold for many people. my last reason is that it does not have the versatility that larger vehicles can provide in a descent price range.

Electric scooters have limited market in the developing world which constitute 2/3 portion of earth. More over the are less stylish and have limited speed. top seed reached by them is merely 60 km/hr. This drives the youngsters away form it.
