'99 vmax-why is ignition turning over when attempting to fasten 2nd terminal? |
bike was garaged and not run for about 1 year and paid to have bike brought back to "riding" condition (carb's cleaned, etc.) took for ride a few days later without incident. now, about 1 month later, no electric action when trying to start. i thought "maybe battery?" purchased new battery and prepared as directed for use (fluids and additional charge before install). hooked everything back up and fastened 1 terminal. while attempting to fasten other terminal, few sparks and then the ignition is turning over without keys in the ignition and nothing else on the bike that would draw power from the battery (everything off). i would probably classify myself as "mechanically challenged" but i didn't think that there would be a whole lot of skill required for this task. i've been dying to ride and this has been 1 bundle of frustration. PLEASE HELP!! that would be "2nd terminal" on new battery (motorcycle) Switch is bad, or there is a ground after the load but before the control. Use an electric meter to check continuity of the wires and the switch. |
