Maybe a stupid question: Honda 100XR dirt bike...how do I get the old gas out?

I asked before about my dirt bike not working, and people suggested that the gasoline is old and needs to be drained. Also, jets adjusted to lower altitude. (I bought the bike in 2003 in Colorado ~5000 ft; now live in CA at about 30 feet...last time started was 2005).

So, how do I drain the entire system of the old gas? I drained the old gas from the little drain hose on the bottom of the carburator (I'm pretty sure that's what it was). It filled a pie pan. There is still about a gallon of old gas in the gas tank. How the heck do I get that out?! The bike won't start. I don't really know much about cars/bikes except how to change a tire, and top off the oil. Speaking of oil...do I need to get that changed? I'd simply take this thing to a dealer, but I sold the truck I used to have in CO (low mpg). I have a Corolla. Can't really toss it in the back of my car.

there is a hose under the gas tank going to the carburator with a little metal clip hose clamp
take a pair of needle nose pliers and pinch the too o's on the clamp together and tug on the gas line it should come off pretty easy

then open the petcock "on off gas thingy the hose goes to with the arrow pointing to "res" setting this will let all of the gas drain
, it would be a good idea to take apart the carburator and clean it

.. you will have a clamp or two bolts"if bolts it will be an 8mm or 10" holding the carb to the motor and a clamp holding the air filter tube to the rear of the carb.. unscrew the cable ontop .. that would be your throttle slide

take off the 4 bolts holding the bowl on "thats the thing on the bottom of the carb that you drained gas from already

get a can of carburator cleaner and a bread tie ... strip the plastic off of the tie

you will see two bronze "jets" little things with a flathead screw driver slot and a hole in the middle ..
push the bread tie wire through thoes holes to clear out any junk and then spray the carb cleaner through it and any other hole in the carburator
make sure the float moves freely and does not stick "float is the thingy that is just hanging there when you take the float off" be cafeful to not let the pin drop out of it .. if it does .. its pretty self explanitory how it goes back in .. thats the thing that lets more gas into the bowl from the gas tank as you burn the fuel

be careful with the carb cleaner because when it goes in one hole it will come out of another and getting it in the eye sucks
and reverse the process for assembly

after you let the tank drain its a good idea to dump some clean gas in it and let it run out to flush any of whats left in it

you have to take the tank off and pull the hose

You suck it as if you are sucking a watermelon through a garden hose.

Drain it from the drain hose that is attached to the gas tank, the one that feed the fuel to the carbs.

Good Luck

pull the hose out from under the tank, ask a neighbor to borrow a truck and take it in for a full tune up 1 time, u really need to tune it up after 3 years of sitting with gunk buildup

IM me I will give you some tricks to help you get it started and running well
