ATV or Dirt Bike?

I have a TRX 90. my birthday is coming up and I wanted a Honda Cr85. My family all have ATVs but anyone who I actually ride with who has skill is my dad. I wanted to get a dirt bike because I think they are cool and have wanted one all my life. Ok, ill get to the point. My dad got a 450r for christmas and was reluctlanty passing down his 300ex to my mom, who never rides. I usually use the 300 now because my mom doesn't like the clutch. I was wondering if I should ask for a dirt bike even though I will be able to use the 300 whenever my family goes riding. I want something that will go fast and I can take big jumps on, because with my old trx90 I am limited to 2 in. suspension and no air. What should I do? ask for the bike - 2 stroke CR85- or keep the 300. if I get the bike i think my parents will sell the 90 and make my mom have the 300, but I will probably be able to ride it still if she doesn't come along. I am 5'6, about 140 lbs and have ridden a ATV for my entire life so far.

it will never hurt to ask I prefer a dirt bike

i like atvs over dirtbikes, but its still fun to rip around on a bike now and then, its your call isnt it, if your tired of atvs then get the bike, but if you can get a better atv go for something with some power, if i was you id go for the atv, and rock the bike now and then when your mom isnt riding, who knows you might like one better, if you ride the bike enough and really perfer it over the atv, im sure you could talk trade-in with the parents.....

best of luck

Think about where and how you want to ride. Are you looking for speed? What kind of terrain? Dirt bikes can go places ATV's might not fit, and ATV's are better in certain kinds of terrain. Think about that, it might help you make your decision.
