How Can I Convince My Parents To Allow Me to Ride A Motorcycle/ Dirt bike?

I have enough money to buy one but they think I can鈥檛 handle it. They won鈥檛 even let me buy myself a Dirt bike because it is 鈥榯oo dangerous鈥? I鈥檓 17. How can I persuade them to let me ride at least a dirt bike?

How long before you're 18? That's the best solution if you can stand the wait.

But, honestly you have got to look at both sides of this. Obviously your parents care about you even though they are probably going about it wrong. 17 is old enough to handle the responsibility of riding, but parents tend to want to protect their kids for as long as possible.

Have you taken your MSF class yet? Even if you don't get the bike till you're 18, having the class behind you is a good thing.

Another thing that might help is to get an adult that your parents have some respect for to vouch for your capability. Sometimes parents will listen to other adults when they won't to their own kids....been there, done that, learned from it too.

Don't ever give up because you never know when they might weaken. Normally I don't advocate heckling one's parents, but you sound responsible enough for the bike. You saved up your own money...good sign of responsibility. You are asking others for advice...another good sign of responsibility. So I'm thinking you can handle riding just fine.

Worst case scenario is that you must wait till you turn 18. Long time to a teen, but not that long in reality.

You're going to ride bud, just maybe not real quick.
hmm I'm would tell them that want it or not you will have it your way. xD lol jk tell them that its your destiny to ride one and that you will be very safe when you do. If they dont let you then just get it in a year. And piss them off for that whole year. :)
Sign up for the MSF class to show them that you are responsible and willing to be smart and safe about. The MSF class is a full weekend thing, and any local dealership can assist you in finding when they are, or you can go to their website. They offer both on-road and off-road classes.

Take the MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) course available at a local college campus. They will teach you the basics and prepare you for the DMV test.
How about, listen to your parents those things are dangerous. I have friends that have died on them and I was almost killed on one. You (the driver) arent usually the prob its the other drivers they see one headlight and can't properly just the distance of where you are. For all they know the headlight on the front of your bike is someones front porch light. You will find out really quick that people will pull out in front of you frequently(at very close range). listen to your parents and live another day. Buy a snowmobile or quad and ride on trails. just as much fun and much more safe. If you get in an accident on a trail out in the woods it probly wont be from getting hit by a hummer going 60mph.
Be a nice boy and listen to your parents. In a year you will be permitted to do whatever you want and you'll have even more money saved. At 17 a year seems like a long time, but it's not.For now keep your parents happy, it will pay off in the long run.Good Luck
