My son is 5 and he really wants to start to learn how to ride a dirt bike what should i start him out with? |
he wants to start riding dirt bikes and then get into racing i have no clue where to even start. Could someone give me some ideas orweb sites i could check out. check with your dealer, they have bikes for the small frys :) Somewhere along the line get him into a tumbling class, so he won't take the spills too badly- start him with a regular bike, and when he learns to ride the regular bike and take responsibility let him have the dirt bike. well, i think you can find all the answers on the net. but i would personally suggest a honda chally. 50cc, very low and easy to control. i personally learned on a simillar bike when i was 5. dont start with a dirt bike before he absolutely masters the chally. you can get me via email for more info.. sascha@eureka.lk If he is of average size for 5 ,I would start hin on the Honda CRF 50. It is a 4 cycle, (regular gas), three speed with no clutch. It has a throttle governor that you can set to restrict the speed untill he is ready for more. This is a low maintenance, buletproof little bike that has been around for 40 years in one form or another. They are $1299 plus tax and off road licence for an 07 model. They depreciate about a hundred bucks a year, so an 03 is usuallly about $1000. The earlier modesl were the Z-50, and XR50, same bike minor changes. Any one of these will work great. Dont buy the Chinese rip offs, they wont hold up and the kids get upset when their bike is always broken down. Yamaha has a copy of the Honda called a TTR50, a good bike also, but the Honda has been around a lot longer and has better resale. After the fifty, he will move up to a CRF70, or a CRF80, then if he wants to race, the new standard is the CRF150R, for racing.The two strokes are going away this year, and next,, so I would not waste money on a 85 class for racing. Start small, build some skill and confidence. Good luck. here it is suzuki 50 cc dirt bike. the suzuki web site. check out a honda 50cc. It's perfect for young beginners. It doesn't go too fast, so you don't have to clench your teeth every time he goes out, and they are light, so if he dumps it, odds are he won't hurt himself, aside from the usual scrapes that are a part of riding. When he gets used to it, upgrade him to an 80cc it has gears, and it goes a little faster, but it still won't kill him if he's riding like a savage. |
