Crashed my dirt bike in water? |
I accidently hit the start button when i was picking the bike up and sucked water into the bike. Could'nt get it going again. What should i check when cleaning it out? drain carb , drain engine oil, clean air filter drain filter box if water present ,drain gas ,and dont let it happen again my little water nipper I'm guessing you mean water got into your engine. I'm not a master mechanic, but I believe you'll need to completely tear down the engine and clean it. Water in gas engines is like kryptonite to Superman. Put in new oil, and clean it completely. That should do the trick. remove spark plug, remove oil plug, pour diesel in the plug hole, flush it out, replace oil, remove bowel from carb, drain water and trash, replace everthing including fresh oil and fuel, and clean plug and give it a shot, your not the first or the last to do this, mine is always running when it happens LOL. Depends on bike. I'm assuming its a newer fourstroke so if you take plug out and get it started you shouldn't have too many problems (an oil change would also be a very goods idea) You need to run it up to operating temp as soon as possible before things inside start to get rust on them. You will probably need a new air filter unless its a foam type which can be washed and re-oiloed I've done the same thing before. all you have to do is change the oil as soon as possible and change the spark plug. Aslo i'd advise draining the carb too.. this all helped me and mine is still running like a top. |
