What size dirt bike should i get? |
im 30 and im looking at buying a motor cross bike am loking at a 125 id that going to be big anought for me to ride or do i need a 250 i weight 185 lbs and i m just starting out what sound i get If u can sit on both see how they feel under u. Maybe u know sum1 that has 1 or both and would let u ride. If ur a fast learner u might out grow the bike in a short period of time. Best bet see if u can find sum1 that with let u drive both and get a feel for them. 125 2 strokes and 250 4 strokes are in the same class these days. The 250cc 4 strokes produce about 30 to 35 hp (which is the same as the 125cc 2 strokes. The 4 stroke 250cc's produce quite a bit more tourque though, so you don't have to rev them as hard. 250cc 2 strokes and 450cc 4 strokes are in the same class. They both produce in the region of 45 to 50hp. The 2 strokes are much lighter, and the tourque difference between the 2 and 4 strokes is not so pronounced as with the 125/250 class. I would go for the 250 2 stroke (But then i am a 2 stroke fan) For ease of riding, as you are a beginner you should maybe go for the 450cc 4 stroke, they don't have as aggressive a power delivery as the 250cc 2 stroke. The throttle on the 250cc 2 stroke is almost like an on off switch, full power and nothing. The 4 stroke is more controlable if you are a beginner. u should go with the 250 four stroke any popular brand if u want to actually want to go motocroos tracks or if u want to be off roader u have to think of the times u can actually ride the bike months of the year, see i live in california and bikes go with red or green sticker wich means red sticker bikes can only be taken off road to actual bikes trail for about 5 or 6 months o the year but if u want to go to the trakcs u can go year round as long they are open for public and the green sticker bikes u can ride year round ,the red sticker goes for two strokes and some four strokes bike make sure u check on that so u avoid any kind of dissapointment with your purchase good luck and have fun and be safe outhere An excellent choice for off-road, but not really a "motocrosser" is a Yamaha TTR250... Cheap, easy to ride, and fun. Not for racing though... |
