What is the Best Sized dirt bike for my son. We NEED HELP? |
He is 5'3 125 pounds. He rides extremely well on an xr 80. We ride Hills and deserts and we want a bike preferably with a light. He is also growing a lot and we dont want him to outgrow this bike crf150r personally, if he rides well I would get him a 4 stroke that he can touch the ground with one foot on the peg. My first bike at 11 yrs old was a xr 200. The nice thing about the four stroke is the bike is only as rad as the rider wants it to be. So if he can pick it up if he lays it down its not to big. a ttr 250 or a ktm 250 exc but without a light i would say a ktm 250 sx or any other 250 cc bike he will grow out of a 125 very quickly dont waist your time with them check into a honda 250 they are very dependable I don't think I would move him from a XR80 to a 250. The Honda CRF150R (the 14" model not the expert) would be a great choice for MX or serious trail riding. If you stay with the trail bikes and go to a CRF 100F or 150F he really won't see much improvment in performance. The CRF150R's seat height is 32.8" and the XR80 28.9" so he should be fine with that. This is one fast little bike though so if he doesn't have the skills be careful. any of the 150fs would work for him you can buy light kits for them that just plug in to the stator he would be comfortable on those but he would out grow them in about 3 years or so just pick the one you would feel the most comfortable with him on man if you think he is ready for a 250f then get one for him if his skills are up to it also have either one of them adjusted to fit him only seat height and dampner etc etc maybe look it to a 200f if possible GOOD LUCK SAFE RIDING maybe a 250 and restrict it , and he can grow with it as he gets his confidence. |
