What is the best, decently priced, dirt bike? Whats a good brand? |
Preferabbly under $1000. Looking for something suitable for an adult.. about 150-200 lbs. What is a good motor size? Not looking for the best, but dont want the crappiest bike either. Something tight to take into the woods. I ride a 175 for about 3 years when i was in high school. Beat the hell out that old bike. I pay $200 for it and got my $$$$ out of it. i would get an older 4 stroke 250, any manufacturer would do as long as the bike is in good repair. 4 strokes are bikes that handle slower speed trail riding w/o too many issues and they do not require as much maintience upkeep as a 2 stroke. i have a yamaha ttr125, i am about 100-120 pounds when geared up, we have group rides and after having ridden a two stroke, i decided on the 4 stroke 125. it handles trails unbelieveablely well, including thru the woods over the snow w/o studs. Any older Japanese 4 stroke will be fine. xr250 honda is really good. 125 might be too small unless you get a two stroke, which I would recommend against. Make sure to check the condition of the plug, oil, chain, and valves. The bikes are tough, but because they are so tough people really abuse them. i would go with a cr125 or cr250...i'm 210lbs and i have a cr125 97' that i bought for 800..and i never had a problem with it. and its fast as hell. I had a Honda CR125 2stroke. The older 4 strokes are heavy IMO. I had one and loved it. I'm 6 feet, 175 pounds. It had plenty of power for me but if your doing alot of tight technical backwoods riding, I would buy an ATV instead. If you plan on riding in an area with tight turns that is really bumpy, go with a ATV if you're going to be jumping at all get a 2 stroke, like a CR125 or 250 If you're just going to be trail riding in the woods, look for an older XR250 or 400 |
