What weight oil? dirt bike 1988 honda xr 80? |
i have been fixing all the "toys" i have in our shed and gave this 80cc 4-stroke to my little brother after i got it running again(runs great) but i don't remember what oil weight to use? it is a 1988 honda xr80r a 4-stroke engine and i think it might use 10w-40 or 10w-30 maybe 5w-30? have any suggestions? thanks 5w-30 10-40wt is a good one for it. i highly recommend using a "motorcycle" specific oil for it too. motorcycle oils have anti foam agents to prevent foaming at high rpm's. they also take the heat better. I recommend you go to your local Honda shop and buy GN4, this is the oil in witch I use in all my "toys", and since I work at a Honda shop I know this is a very good oil. No. Not all oil will work, motorcycles have wet clutches and you need to use an oil that is made free of detergents that will harm them. What ever you do do not use an oil with an EPA logo on it for it will ruin your clutch. Certified honda tech. am I. it doesnt matter what you use, all will work fine. it just depends on if you are looking at going to the desert where its hot or up in colorado where it is really cold. if you are going somewhere hot, get something with a higher second number. if you are going somewhere cold, get something with a lower first-W number. Get the best, these guys have an application for everything http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/default... http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/default... |
