Why is my dirt bike running really rough and blowing white smoke profusely? |
Has not been used in a long time and I just gave it a tune up and I'm pretty sure I put it back together right, I sure its the piston oil seal, but could it be something else? any other thoughts? It would help if we knew what the bike was.....2 stroke 4 stroke. blown a gasket, don`t ride it anymore till you`ve had it seen to Head gasket, scored cylinder, mis-adjusted oil injector... the list goes on. Sounds like a blown oil ring on the piston. it probably a stuck oil ring on the piston. or even if you "did put it back together right" if you didn't tighten the head enough/or proper way the head gasket might be leaking. white smoke is caused by water if its water cooled Always give year, make, engine size and model # when asking questions. A 2 or 4 stroke engine will give the same symptoms, but require different repair procedures. --2 stroke. To much oil in the premix. Worn piston & rings and cylinder. Worn crank seal (clutch side). If water cooled - coolant leaking past head/base gaskets. --4 stroke. Worn piston & rings and cylinder. Leaking valve guide seals. Coolant leaking past head/base gasket. |
