Does anyone know any dirt bike trails in southwest michigan or northers indiana? |
Does anyone know any dirt bike trails in southwest michigan or northers indiana? not off hand but if you go to the DNR website there should be a listing somewhere on there For a complete list of Indiana and Michigan dirt biking trails, check out: http://www.trailsource.com/scripts/three... potato creek state park has basic trails, nothing that will really get your heart pumping though.... there is also a trail set up by the hummer factory in granger indiana for test driving thats pretty fun, the only issue is that you have to know someone to be able to get into it.... unless you have a hummer. There are some great trails in three rivers michigan that i built. They are over by clear lake... i think total, the two trails are about 22 miles long, and there are great drop offs, bridges, fast corners, and great scenic views. its all hard pack, so you can get up some speed, but if you arent very technical at high speeds, you might want to avoid the first trail that starts on east clear lake road... the other trail starts on hoffman and day rd. its been a few years since ive been out there (enlisted in the usmc) so the trails may need a little bit of cleanup work.... the trails are all on private property, and the guy who owns them used to be my neighbor, if you have any problems with people telling you you cant be on there, tell them that "Friday" told you years ago that he had no problem with you riding them... Friday is now in a home in texas, but his family still owns the land, and they are good people... but just please, dont leave garbage everywhere. Heres the directions: Traveling south on 131 towards indiana 13 (or 31..) from kalamazoo, when you hit the three rivers city border (eagles auto parts), its 2 stop lights, and 1 blinking light... turn at the blinking light... if you pass wendys on the left, youve went to far. For some reason i just cannot remember the name of the road you need to turn down (which i only drove everyday to school for 6 years..?!) there is a church right by the flashing light, hang a right there. Take that road all the way down until you hit day rd. its the first stop sign.. if you want the more mellow trails, hang a right on day, and take that all the way down until you hit 'hoffman'. park your car on the side of the road, and hop on the bike and hang a left on hoffman... on the right, you will see an old abandoned barn, you need to go behind the barn, and you cant miss the trails. the fast technical trails; instead of hanging a right on day, you want to go straight, about 400 yards from the 4 way, you will see a road that heads down into some hills, this is east clear lake road. take this all the way down until you hit the stop sign. at the stop sign, on your left, you will see a road that goes down into some lake front property, on your right, you will see a gob of mailboxes. park your car after you pass the mailboxes. Its flat, and theres enough room to get the car completely off the road. the area is monitored heavily by police, so be sure to put a note in your windsheild explaining what youre doing, and if you have a cell phone, write down the number. This has saved me impound fees many a time. anyways, so after you park the car, start riding away from the lake... about 1/8th of a mile, you will see a dirt road going up a hill.. take that... now right past the first house on the left (its green), you will see a little gate, you want to ride into this. this is the start of the technical trails... (well the last time i was on them, they were technical... 4 years can destroy trails) |
