What's the better dirt bike for trails and exploring , 2 stroke or 4 stroke? Dependability is a must!? 4 stroke kick *** when it comes to reliability. They are made to putt around on the trails. A 2 stroke is made to run wide open. They might be cheap and easier to fix in general, but nothing beats a honda 4 stroke when it comes to reliability. i had a 4 stroke and it was awesome but i still like my old Yamaha 250 2 stroke it never has problems!!! at all and i tell you the have a kick to them and last forever cause mine is a 1986 and it goes like hell in the trails and sand take the four stroke less shifting more reliable 4 stroke for dependability, 2 for balls-out running. Depending on the bike, a 4 won't bog down too much, you just have to do research. you gotta go with the 4 stroke their nicer for the trails and they have a lot less matenence they got a lot of tork on them too they can climb anything if you got the right bike 4 stroke Personally, I'd never buy a 4 stroke for the dirt. But to answer your question, a 4 stroke would be the better choice. Especially if you were exploring and ran out of gas. You can just hike to the nearest gas station. A 2 stroke requires premix fuel (2 stroke oil mixed in with the gas). A 4 stroke has more power and torque when riding at slow speeds. A 2 stroke needs to be reved at mid to high RPMs to produce the low end power of a 4 stroke. Putting around on a 2 stroke will foul the spark plug on a regular basis. If you keep up on the maintenance, they're equally dependable. |
